Home / Diamond Rental
In Pleasant Grove, Utah, an old veterinary clinic has been transformed into a modern Diamond Rental store through an extensive renovation and commercial building project. This transformation showcases the potential of adaptive reuse in commercial construction.
The project began with a near-complete demolition, strategically leaving only three exterior walls standing to preserve the building’s valuable zoning allowance near the freeway entrance road. These remaining walls were fortified and extended by two feet with concrete blocks, while a new front wall was constructed to complete the building’s shell.
Inside, the space was completely reconfigured to meet Diamond Rental’s needs. Two new handicap-accessible restrooms were installed, and a new concrete floor was poured to withstand the demands of rental equipment. A striking vaulted wood truss roof structure was added, creating a spacious, open feel within the store.
The renovation extended beyond the main building, with improvements to the parking lot including new drainage systems and fresh asphalt pavement. As an added bonus, the old veterinary barn was converted into a tool repair shop, further maximizing the property’s potential.
One of the project’s most memorable aspects was the removal of the old roof. Using a crane, the construction team lifted off entire sections intact, combining efficiency with spectacle.
This comprehensive renovation has given new life to an old property, transforming it from a place of animal care to a hub for community resources. The new Diamond Rental store stands as a testament to the potential of adaptive reuse in commercial construction, blending respect for a building’s history with modern needs and building techniques.
